CID4 is seeking its fifth project. A review date of Friday, August 5th has been selected as the cut-off for submitting material to CID4.com for consideration. Material may be submitted HERE. 

CID4 recently launched a new website where business plans of all shapes and sizes are submitted online on a rolling basis. The new CID4 Innovation Database is proving to be a powerful tool, enabling industry partners and investors from all over world to reach into the technology-rich Colorado life science ecosystem. Providing an efficient, single point of entry, the database has been warmly received by both commercial partners and institutional investors and is being validated as an effective tool for catalyzing significant opportunities for Colorado entrepreneurs. Companies or technology business plans that had been uploaded to the CID4 Innovation Database were presented at the intense partnering and investor conferences C21 BioVentures in Napa, CA in May and BIO 2011 in Washington, D.C. in June. 

Those companies and technologies who submit their content by the August 5th cut-off will be considered for review by management and the Technical and Business Advisory Committee (TBAC). Rolling submissions received following the August 5th cut-off will be considered in the next project evaluation session, date announcement forthcoming. 

CID4 has committed $1.25 million to four projects, which have created 22 direct jobs and raised an additional $1.3 million of investment capital. CID4 is delivering on its mission of Economic Development through Innovation Advancement.

CID4 Co-Founder and CSO, Rick Duke, Ph.D. attended the 13th Annual C21 BioVentures Forum on May 24-26 in Napa, CA, along with management of CID4 portfolio companies PeptiVir and VetDC. CID4’s goals for attending C21, one of the premier early-stage life science partnering meetings, were three-fold: 

• First, to introduce the CID4 concept to the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and life science investor communities  
• Second, to introduce CID4’s current portfolio companies, as well as companies and inventors who submitted information to the CID4 Innovation Database (submit your company and/or technology information HERE), to potential partners, licensees and investors, and 
• Third, to interact with other organizations with similar goals as CID4 to determine best practices for technology selection and institute funding. 

1. Venture capital: SV Life Sciences, Vivo Ventures, MedImmune Ventures, Bay City Capital, Kleiner Perkins Caulfield and Byers, BDC Venture Capital, Novo Ventures, Skyline Ventures, CDBI Capital, MP Healthcare Venture Management, Canaan Partners and Woodside Partners; 
2. Industry partners: AstraZeneca, Genentech, Bayer, Takeda, Merck, Debiopharm, Pfizer, Novartis, Abbott, Merck, Teva and Onyx; and 
   
3. Others: Silicon Valley Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, Aquilo Partners, CTI, New Biology Partners and Finox.

PeptiVir was represented at the Forum by co-founde Robert Hodges, Ph.D. (VP of Chemistry) and Kathryn Holmes, Ph.D. (VP of Virology), while VetDC was represented by President and CEO Steven Roy who said,“C21 BioVentures is one of the premier events in the country in terms of providing access to highly influential members of the life science investment community. Not only was VetDC able to gain valuable exposure as a presenting company but the conference format provided ample opportunities for formal and informal networking with investors and potential partners, yielding over 25 contacts for further follow-up. CID4's presence proved to be invaluable, both in terms of sharing the VetDC story as well as raising the awareness of Colorado Bioscience. In fact, many attendees mentioned that they were surprised to see so many Colorado companies represented at the conference.”

Overall it was great experience for the Colorado contingency, which also included KromaTiD and Vidasym who were represented by Terry Opgenorth, Ph.D., and demonstrated the value of CID4 enabling industry and investors to reach into technology-rich Colorado for the best in pre-clinical and clinical stage technologies and companies.

CID4 is attending two important industry conferences C21 BioVentures (May 25-27) and the BIO Business Forum (June 27-30) to present venture capital investors and potential corporate partners with the technologies and opportunities that CID4 has been evaluating since our first technology solicitation in March 2010.
